USS GEORGIA (SSGN 729)

An Online Petition to Support Permanent Berthing
of USS GEORGIA in Camden County, GA

The planned useful life of the original Ohio Class submarines was originally set at 30 years, later extended to 42 years, meaning that the first Ohio Class submarine retirement would take place in 2024.

At some point, the USS GEORGIA will reach the end of her useful life and be decommissioned, and the Navy will have to decide what to do with her. After removing sensitive material and equipment, the options for disposal include sinking, scrapping or saving.

This petition is meant to encourage early discussion among all stakeholders about the future of USS GEORGIA (SSGN 729), and show support for the transfer of ship and title to Camden County, Georgia, upon decommissioning, and permanent berthing of USS GEORGIA at a suitable site in the County.

USS GEORGIA should remain in Georgia as a monument to the men and women who have served aboard the ship, and as a reminder to all citizens of the sacrifices made to keep our country safe. With a permanent home in Camden County, GA, the USS GEORGIA will be guaranteed an honored and revered future, and the community will benefit from a unique, one of a kind, tourist attraction, and an educational asset for all citizens.

Please sign the petition below and help prepare for the future of USS GEORGIA (SSGN 729).
